2002/10/17 – Acquired a domain name for the site, zdutton.org.
2002/10/27 – Released Version 2.0 of the website, a major upgrade, incorporating the following changes:
I will now be hosting free of charge your photographs, web pages, reports, GEDCOMs, and other family resources, to make them available to the world. This is your website, so please take advantage of it! I want this website to chronicle all aspects of Zachariah's genealogy. It would be really nice to have photographs to go with people in the family tree, and information from you on them and their descendants. I will be more than glad to link in anything that any of you want to submit. Anything that you want me to put on the web, just e-mail it to me, and I'll put it up as soon as possible.
I'll be uploading soon some of the pictures that I have. Also in the works are various resource files, including census indices, death records, marriage records, and cemetery transcriptions. If any of you have any of this type of information to share, I'll be very happy to host it here, as well.
If you'd like to send in your GEDCOMs or family reports, I will convert them to web pages, and link them into the family tree wherever you connect.
2003/01/02 – Installed a very basic changelog, which shows which files on the site have been updated recently.
2003/01/14 – Added the first entries in the Pictures collection.
2003/01/27 – Added three new pictures in the Stephen Dutton and Edmund Dutton areas.
2003/04/24 – I'm finally out of school for the summer, so hopefully I can start getting some things done around here again. Stay tuned to the mailing list.
2003/07/22 – I just made a major update to the site. Here's what's new:
I'm still, as always, looking for your resource and picture contributions.
2003/10/17 – Yes, I'm still alive. I'm sorry I've been so out of touch. School started back at the end of August, and I have a very busy schedule this semester. It's hard to find time just to breathe.
I made a major research trip to Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma in mid-August. I obtained a lot of great new information, and it is my hope that eventually I'll have time to post it.
If you've e-mailed me and haven't received a response, I apologize. I haven't forgotten about you, and I will reply as soon as I have some time.
2004/12/29 – I finally found a little time to make some updates. I went through most of the
family data pages and made some minor tweaks, in some cases adding new information
from last summer's Texas trip. I also added cemetery links next to the names of people whose graves I
photographed on my trip. Look for the tombstone icon (
).
There are several new pictures of the George S. Hughes family in the Edmund Dutton gallery.
2005/02/05 – There are some new pictures of the Dallas Dutton family, submitted by Tom and Dorothy Dutton, in the Edmund Dutton gallery. Also, Marelle Urso has submitted some pictures of the Dutton graves at Old Minden Cemetery in Minden, Webster Parish, Louisiana.
2006/10/09 – Whoo! First updates in over a year! Yes, I'm still alive. I'm in a hurry this morning, but the most significant update, at least from a site maintenance standpoint, is the new and improved changelog, which will show you exactly what I've done and why. I updated various family files with new information, and added a new 'Articles' section which will contain significant writings on various topics by myself and others. There will be more to come soon, I promise.
2006/11/06 – There is a new family photo gallery for the Alexander Dutton family
of Louisiana, containing a few pictures of the George Washington Dutton family.
As always, I look forward to receiving your submissions.
Also, the changelog is now RSS-enabled.
If you have an RSS reader or a Web 2.0 browser like
Opera or Firefox,
you can subscribe (
)
to the changelog, and receive notices of any site updates as they happen. What can I say?
I'm a geek. If you don't know what this is, don't worry about it.
This will probably be the last update for a little while, as I now have a term paper to write.
2006/11/10 – Okay, so I lied. When I received these photos in the mail tonight, I nearly burst from the excitement and had to share them immediately. Five new pictures in the Edmond Dutton gallery, including a photo of Alexander Dutton and Martha Jane Hampton, a rare photo of this generation. Also George Allen Dutton and wife Arrow Etta Matthews, and an unidentified Dutton family, probably belonging to Edmond Dutton and living in Texas. Please help us identify it. A thousand thanks to Anett Faulkner for sending the photos. Seriously, guys, the rest of us are getting smoked by the Edmond Dutton branch. We all (including me) need to submit our family photos and catch up.
2007/09/02 – Yes, I am in fact still alive, and have an exciting announcement to make! In August 2007, we received our first results back from a study of Zachariah Dutton's DNA. Here is detailed (but hopefully intelligible) explanation of what we are doing and our findings! Behold, the Zachariah Dutton DNA Project! Also, if you haven't seen it, check out Bill and Jane's Excellent Adventure (in Dutton Country)!
2007/11/11 – I just posted some new DNA results and conclusions!
2008/07/13 – The first batch of photographs from my treasure trove of scans from July 9th is online in the Edmond Dutton gallery. Here we have not one but two photographs of John Dutton son of Edmond Dutton, before unseen: one tintype, perhaps circa 1880, and one gem of him and his family; also a photograph of George Washington Dutton son of Edmond, before only seen when he was much older, here seen with his family.
2008/07/15 – The second batch of photographs from my July 9th scanning mission is online in the Edmond Dutton gallery. One of the most astounding finds of the day is a photograph of Alexander Dutton son of Edmond Dutton as a young man. The image is heavily damaged, but it appears that he may be wearing a Civil War uniform. Also a photograph of Edmond Dutton's son-in-law, Joseph Harrison Caudle, and a grandson, Richard A. "Dike" Day.
2008/07/21 – The third batch of photographs from July 9th is up, in the Edmond Dutton gallery. At long last, we have images of two of our most elusive cousins, Stephen Penn Dutton and his wife Sarah Jane Dutton. We have one photograph of them and their family, circa 1890, and another one of them when they were older, circa 1910.
2008/08/04 – I've uploaded the crown jewels of the scans from July 9th: tintypes of Edmond Dutton himself, and his wife Margaret Barnett Ross Dutton!
2009/06/02 – I've added ten new photos to the family galleries! A new gallery for the family of Jarrard Dutton, with a photo of the sons of John and Mary Brown; plus two photos for Edmond Dutton: the children of James Arthur Dutton, son of Stephen Penn Dutton, and a portrait of Trannie Lee Dutton, daughter of George Washington Dutton. Four wonderful photos for Alexander Dutton, of the family of John Franklin Dutton and Martin Ida Monzingo: the men, the women, Tom and Mickey Dutton, and Mack Moreland Dutton in World War I. Finally, three photos for William Dutton: Dan Dutton and his friend Jim Hunter, Dan Dutton at the tombstone of David Day at Friendship Cemetery, and Lattie Dutton Staples, daughter of Charles H. Dutton, and her children.
